About Rumson 07760

Rumson is a borough in Monmouth County NJ. As of the 2018 census its population is approximately 6,776 people. The borough of Rumson was formed in 1907 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature. Rumson actually has a much earlier history, and the origin of its name is variously attributed to the land being bought from Native Americans for some rum; or the fact that Native Americans called it “Navarumsunk”. It was originally bought by English settlers in pieces, some as early as 1665. Rumson borders on the Monmouth County municipalities of Fair Haven, Little Silver, Middletown, Monmouth Beach and Sea Bright.
